Step-by-step explanation:

Given From the top of a building 15 meter high the angle of elevation of the top of a tower is found to be 30 degree. From the bottom of the same building, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is found to be 60 degree. Find the height of the tower and the distance between the tower and the building?

  • According to the question CB is a building of height 15 m and EA is the tower.
  • Let the height of the tower be h.
  • In the triangle EAB,
  • EA / AB = tan 60
  • h / AB = tan 60
  • So AB = h / √3
  • Now DCAB is a rectangle.
  • So DC = AB = h/√3
  • So DA = CB
  • Now in triangle EDC,
  • ED / DC = tan 30
  • ED / h / √3 = tan 30
  • Or h = 3 ED
  • Or ED = h/3
  • Also CB = 15 m
  • EA – ED = 15
  • h – h/3 = 15
  •   2h / 3 = 15
  •  Or 2h = 45
  •   Or h = 22.5 m
  • So AB = h/√3
  •            = 22.5 / √3
  •           = 12.9
  •            = 13 m
  • Therefore height of the tower is 22.5 m and the distance between the building and tower is 13 m
