From the top of a platform 7m high, the angle of elevation of a tower was 30°. If the platform ws positioned 50√3 away from the tower, how tall was the tower?

To answer this question you need to draw the diagram.

When you draw the diagram you will get a rectangle of sides 7 m by 50 m and a right angled triangle with a base of 50 m and an angle of 30° on the base.

From the diagram the height of the tower is :

= h + 7

To get h we will use trigonometric ratio Tan.

H = 50 Tan 30 = 28.87 m

The height of the tower is thus :

28.87 + 7 = 35.87 m
