Let x be the distance between tower and pole. Height of the tower from the top of pole will be 60m because Height of tower is 80 and pole is 20m hence Height of the tower from the top of pole will be 80-20=60m.

Given the angle of depression of the top of pole of 20m high lying in front of the tower is observed to be 45 degree i.e., tan45=x/60

from this we get x=60 which is distance between tower and pole.
