Given :

Graph between velocity( V ) and times ( t ) .

In case 1 .

We need to find the acceleration along ab .

We know , acceleration is change in velocity per unit time .

a_{ab}=\dfrac{40\ m/s}{2\ s}\\\\a_{ab}=20\ m/s^2

In case 2 .

We need to find the acceleration along bd .

Here , in ab the velocity along bd is constant .

Therefore , acceleration along bd is zero .

In case 3 .

We need to find the total distance covered .

Now , total distance covered in V vs t graph is the area under the curve .

Here , distance = area under the trapezium ABDE .

D =\dfrac{1}{2}(Sum \ of\ parallel\ sides )\times (perpendicular \ height )\\\\D=\dfrac{1}{2}\times (4+8)\times 40\\\\D=240\ m

Hence , this is the required solution .
