Plants absorb nutrients from the soil.

So, they absorb nitrogen from the soil through the roots in the form of ammonium ions, nitrate ions, nitrite ions, or amino acids.

Hydrogen is obtained when the water is split into hydrogen and oxygen ions.

These two gases are primarily available during the process of photosynthesis.

Plants acquire nitrogen from the soil by by absorption through their roots as amino acids, ammonium ions, nitrite ions or nitrate ions. Hydrogen is obtained by splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen during photosynthesis by plants.
