Answer:

We know that places located on different meridians have different local time. it would create a lot of difficulties if all countries would adopt different local time. baby timetable and the schedules of the Year flights would be difficult to prepare. in order to avoid this problem and maintain its uniformity or a country it was decided to adopt the local time of a central Meridian of a country as the standard time of India. the Meridian selected biochemistry is divisible by 7° 30' so that the difference between 8th standard 9 and the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is expressed in the multiple of half an hour. The Meridian selected for a country is called the standard Meridian.

Now, how India got its time as 5:30 hours from GMT

all the places located on the same meridian have the same local time. the local time of one Meridian differs from other. if it is known for 12 o'clock at Greenwich, the local time of all the places located at 30° East longitude will be 30 × 4 min= 120 minutes or 2 hours ahead. it means the time on 30° East will be 12+2 = 2:00 p.m. On the other hand, the local time of all places at 30° W longitude will be two hours behind the Greenwich Mean Time . it will be 12-2= 10:00 a.m. does the local time will be a head at all the places in the east of a given meridian and it will be behind at all the places in the west of a given meridian.

India has selected 82°30' E longitude as its Standard Meridian. it passes through a place near Mirzapur. its local time is taken as the Indian Standard Time (IST). The Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is 5 and half hours behind the Indian Standard Time.
