Pakistan means "land of the pure". "Pak" means pure in Urdu and "stan" means land in Persian the "i" between "pak" and "stan" means "of" in Persian and Urdu. In the languages of Pakistan and Iran the predicate always comes before the subject.

"Pakistan" has a double meaning, it was originally invented by Choudhary Rahmat Ali as an acronym for a future union of Punjab, Afghania, Kashmir, Iran, Sindh and balochisTAN.

P - Punjab
A - Afghania
K - Kashmir
I - Iran
S - Sindh
TAN - BalochisTAN
