From Wool Stapler ( a dealer in wool). The wool-stapler bought wool from the producer, and then would sort and grade it, and sell it to manufacturers

Explanation:

  • A class of merchant had arose known as merchant clothiers who had purchased wool and other raw materials from wool staplers and gave it to combers, carders, weavers, spinners, fullers, dyers & other craftsmen and had paid each of these people for their respective part in the manufacturing process; the finishing was undertaken in London. However the clothiers themselves disposed  of the final product in the home market or for export
  • The clothiers were a new employer class who had hired master weavers & other craftsmen for wages. While the weavers & craftsmen continued to have their apprentices & journeymen the initiative in the industry were taken by the b who provided capital & raw material and took charge of selling finished products
