The area of contact for a sharper knife is smaller than that of a blunt knife.
Blunt knife has thicker edges and its harder to cut even if we exert more force.

Since the force applied is the same, the pressure on the fruit increases to a great extent.
It leads to more thrusts and the effective cutting of the fruit within a very short time span.
