Let the number of employees in the group be x

Given Number of employees on the trip = 2√x

Number of employees in the office = \frac{x}{2}

Number of employees on leave = 6

Thus x =  2√x + (x^{2}) + 6

(x^{2}) - 6 = 2√x

Squaring on both the sides, we get

(x^{2} / 4) - 6x + 36 = 4x

x^{2} - 24x + 144 - 16x = 0

 x^{2}- 40x + 144 = 0

 x^{2}- 36x - 4x + 144 = 0

x(x - 36) - 4(x - 36) = 0

(x - 36)(x -4) = 0

Therefore, x = 36 or 4

Number of employees cannot be 4 as 6 are already on leave.

Thus the total number of employees are 36
