Theory :

Robert van de Graaff build a generator in 1931 that produce highly energetic charge particles.

Such particles are useful in treatment of cancer.

Principle :

It based on the phenomenon of corona discharge and that the charge given to a hollow conductor get transfer to the outer surface to be distributed uniformly.

Use :

It is a device which used for generation high electric potential of an order 10 million volt. And such electric potential are needed to accelerating charge particles to very high speeds.
