Heya friend,
There are 2 types of endoplasmic reticulum
1. smooth endoplasmic reticulum which doesn't contain any ribosomes.
2. rough endoplasmic contains ribosomes.
The ribosomes which are present in all active cells, are the sites of protein manufacture.
The manufactured proteins are then sent to various places in the cell.
The SER helps in manufacture of fat molecules, or lipids, important for cell function. Some of these proteins and lipids help in building the cell membrane. This process is called membrane biogenesis.
Hope my answer helped u...

Hey Mate !!
This organelle is divided into two :-
→Smooth and rough Endoplasmic reticulum.
→The Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum synthesises sterols and lipids.
→The Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum synthesises proteins.
