Lysosomes contain digestive enzymes called Hydrolytic enzymes which use H2O to break a chemical bond. Whenever there is a misfunction in the cell's metabolic activities

these enzymes are secreated in large no. and it leads to cell death. Lysosomes also cat as a scavenger of the cell in destroying the worn out cell organelles, foreign bodies,etc.
