It regulates the functioning of other glands.

Explanation:

Pituitary is a small gland present below the hypothalamus inside the brain. It regenerates hormones and regulates the functioning of the other glands. It itself also secrets certain hormones, among them the most important hormone is the growth hormone and the thyrotropin hormone such that,

Hormones ⇒Pituitary gland⇒Secretion

Thyrotropin-releasing hormone ⇒Follicle-stimulating hormone⇒ Melanocyte-stimulating hormone

Corticotropin-releasing hormone ⇒Thyrotropin-releasing hormone⇒ Growth hormone–releasing hormone

Growth hormone ⇒Adrenocorticotropic hormone⇒ Thyroid-stimulating hormone

Vasopressin⇒ Somatostatin ⇒Parathyroid hormone ⇒Calcitonin

Pituitary gland also regulates the thyroid gland and functions with the consuming salt and regenerate THS hormone. And lack of this hormone is responsible for goiter and an excess of this hormone leads to exophthalamic goiter such that, eyes bulges out, face and hands become puffy, lips get swollen, melaning layer comes above etc.
