Root :

Root is the lower lart of the plant that is found underground.

The main function of roots are to :

  • Absorb water , minerals and nutrients

  • Take up Nitrogen for nitrogen fixation

  • Give support to the plant to stand upright

  • Regrow if the upper part is cut.

♪Root are broadly classified into two types :

  1. Tap root
  2. Fibrous root

  • Tap root

☞ In tap root system there is a major singular root that grows straight into the soil. That root has many small Roots growing from itself.

Eg :

  • Carrot
  • Radish

  • Fibrous root

In fibrous root system there is nose major root root hairs grow from every direction .

Eg :

  • Onion
  • Groundnuts

Root is a part of the plant, which is first and foremost necessary for a plant to grow.

The function of Root are as follows :

  • Root helps the plants to Absorb Water (H20) , so that the plant can full fill the needs of Water.

  • Root helps the plants to fix their nitrogen in soil, with the help of Rhizobium bacteria.

  • Root helps the plants to be straight, so that the plant could live their life and they won't fall down.

There are two types of Roots Namely they're as follows :

TAP ROOT :--- This is a type of root which consists of one root, the plant growing will stand on its one root only.

The Examples of Tap root plants are as follows :

  • Beetroot
  • Carrot
  • Burdock
  • Radish

FIBROUS ROOT :--- This is a type of root which consists of many roots, the plant growing from this criteria root will stand on its many roots.

The Examples of fibrous root plants are as follows :

  • Oat
  • Wheat
  • Rice
  • Onion
