The rough endoplasmic reticulum is especially prominent in cells such as hepatocytes. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum lacks ribosomes and functions in lipid manufacture andmetabolism, the production of steroid hormones, and detoxification. The smooth ER is especially abundant in mammalian liver and gonad cells.

Hey mate here's ur answer :-)

SER stands for smooth endoplasmic reticulum which helps in the manufacture of fat molecules ,or lipids , important for cell function.

whereas

RER stands for rough endoplasmic reticulum which looks rough under a microscope because it has particles called ribosomes attached to its surface. The ribosomes which are present in all active cells , are the sites of protein manufacture.

hope it helps :-)

sakshijha002: Thanks
