Function of small intestine :-

> It is the principle organ for absorption of nutrients.

> The digestion is completed here and the final products of digestion such as glucose, fructose, fatty acids, glycerol and A.A(amino acids) are absorbed through the mucosa into the blood stream and lymph.

Small intestine has 3 major parts

● Deuodenum:- Here breakdown of biomacromolecules occurs.

● The simple substances thus formed are absorbed in the jejunum and ileum parts of small intestine.

Small intestine is responsible for secretion of hormones like enterokinase , lipases , nucleases , etc which are necessary for digestion .

Moreover it also has villi which absorbs all the digested food and passes it to the blood stream .
