The Indian high court act of 1861 was an act of parliament of United Kingdom to authorize the crown to create high court in India colony. queen victoria created the court in Calcutta, Madras and Bombay in 1862. it is a court of record and have power to punish the contempt by itself. each high court has superintendence in all courts throughout all territories .it also have power on subordinate courts.it has original and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters.
