The functions of xylem and phloem are :

1.Xylem: its function is to transport food materis from leaves to the other part of the plants.

2. Phloem: its function is to transfer water and minerals from the roots to other parts of the plant.

➡️ the flow of material is mostly unidirectional.

➡️ Xylem consists of tracheids, vessels , xylem parenchyma and fibers.

➡️ Conduction of elements of xylem are tracheids and vessels.

➡️ Out of four elements of xylem, only xylem parenchyma is living,rest three are dead.

➡️ It also known as wood in greek.

➡️ Phloem

➡️ Phleom is a complex tissue that conducts food to the plant.

➡️ the flow of material is bidirectional.

➡️ phloem consists of seive tubes , companion cells, phloem parenchyma and fibers.

➡️ Conducting elements is seive tubes.

➡️ Out of four elements only phloem fibers are dead, rest are living.
