All the branches and offices of State Bank of India (SBI) across the country remained closed as bankers went on indefinite strike from today over the issue regarding review of pension ceiling.
Responding to the call of State Bank of India Officers’ Association (SBIOA) and State Bank of India Workmen Union (SBIWU), the bank employees staged a large-scale demonstration at the LHO here today.
A total of 2.10 lakh SBI officials and employees and 75,000 pensioners participated in the strike, which has brought the banks functioning to a standstill.
All the 687 SBI branches in MP and Chhattisgarh remained closed, which affected transaction of Rs 5,500 crore in a single day.
