An inspector is an officer appointed by the government for inspection. The functions of an inspector are as follows.
(i) Make an examination and inquiry to ascertain that all laws and statutory requirements are being followed
(ii) Enter, inspect and search a factory or an industrial premise for ensuring that objectives of the act are being met.
(iii) Look into the payment of wages that are being paid by railway, industry or a factory.
The powers of an inspector are as follows.
(i) Can ask for producing a record or register that amply satisfies the Act
(ii) If there is an offence committed by an employer, an inspector can seize or take control of copies of documents or registers that can prove the same.
