Consumers are organisms that receive energy by consuming other organisms. Consumers dominate most of a food chain.

They have important roles to play within an ecosystem such as balancing the food chain by keeping in a animal populations at a reasonable number. Without proper balance, an ecosystem can collapse.

The three roles demonstrated by all animals, plants, bacteria and other living organisms are those of producers, consumers and decomposers.

Producers include plants and algae. Consumers are further broken down into primary, secondary and tertiary consumers, as well as carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

Hope this may help you and be the brainliest..

food chain studies have an important role in ecotoxicology studies tracing the pathway and biomagnification of environmental contaminants producrs, such as plant are organism that utilize solar or chemical energy to synthesize starch. all food chain must start with a producer.
