Functions of HCl :-

  • The main function of HCl is to convert inactive Enzyme into active Enzyme

Pepsinogen and Prorenin are converted into inactive Enzyme

Pepsinogen -------------> Pepsin

Prorenin ---------------> Renin

  • It destroy all the bacteria present in the food .
  • HCl stops the action of saliva , the medium is highly acidic.
  • It dissolves the portions of the food and make it soft .
