MERISTEMATIC TISSUE:-

▪The cells of this tissue have the capacity of division and composed of immature cell.

WHAT IS MERISTEM?

The plant in which growth is largely restricted to specialised region of active cell division called Meristem.

▫Also a meristem is a localised region in which actual cell division occur.

  1. APICAL MERISTEM
  2. INTERCALARY MERISTEM
  3. LATERAL MERISTEM

FUNCTIONS:-

  • It is made up of elongated cells and it give rise to vascular tissue system .vascular tissue system includes xylem and phloem .
  • Specific region of apical Meristem tissue produces dermal tissue ,ground tissue and vascular tissue .
  • They are responsible for increase in length of plant organ .
  • By the activity of Meristem tissue length of leaves are increases .
  • It contribute to the formation of primary plant body .
