its duty is absorption of food

When the food has been broken down into nutrients, vitamins. proteins etc. from the stomach to the small intestine, villi lines the intestine and the villi absorbs the nutrients and vitamins which will be used by the body

The function of villi is as follow:
the small intestine has many tiny finger like projections called villi.these villi increase surface area for more efficient food absorption with in this villi are present numerous blood vessels which ansorbs digested food and carry it to the blood stream.
