Fuse wire has much greater resistance than the connecting wires.

Answer:

Fuse wires must have have higher resistance to resist the high current supply but whereas it must have a low melting point. Because, incase of overloading the fuse melts and breaks the circuit to prevent other appliances from any further damage.
