It is done with the help of ciliary muscles

It is made possible because the focal length of the human lens can change i.e., increase or decrease, depending on the distance of objects. It is the ciliary muscles that can modify the curvature of the lens to change its focal length.

the ability of the eye lens to adjust is called accommodation

the change in the curvature of the eye lens can thus change its focal length

when the muscles relax the lens become thin does its focal length increases this enable us to see the distance object clearly .

when you are looking at the object closer to the eye in the ciliary muscles contract this increases the curvature of the eye lens then becomes thicker consequently the focal length of the eye lens decreases .

this enables to see a near objects clearly.

hope this helps
