G. Answer the following questions in detail.
1. Matter occupies space. Explain it with the help of an activity.
2. Solids do not flow. Why?
Answers
Answer: I can think of two activities for the first question:
Explanation:
1) When an object is immersed in water, it is observed that a certain amount of water is displaced and overflows. This happens because the object takes up place and pushes the water away, causing it to overflow.
Another activity: When a balloon is filled with air, it increases in space.
The above activities prove that matter occupies space.
As for your second question, Solids are very densely packed, and have very less inter molecular space. That is why solids do not flow.
Answer:
solids do not flow .why
Ans _
because the particles don't move ,solids have a definite shape and volume ,and can't flow .Because the particles are already packed closely together ,solids can't easily be compressed .Because there are lots of particles in a small volume, solids are dense.
matter occupies space .explain it with the help of an activity.
Ans _
Take a glass of water and mix some sugar in it .particles of water has space between them and this is why particles of sugar got dissolved in it.This proves that matter occupies space and have mass.
