Explanation:

We can calculate the volume of regular shaped objects like solid spheres, cylinders and right circular cones etc. By math formulas

But we don't have the standard formula for calculating the volume of irregular shaped objects .In that case , eureka cans are useful.

Eureka can are filled to the top with water . And the measuring cylinder is kept near the can. If you dip the irregular objects through thread, the water from the can displaces to the cylinder.

Volume of object immersed = volume of water displaced.

Through you can calculate the volume of irregular objects .

SPECIFIC GRAVITY BOTTLES

Specific gravity bottles are used to measure the density of the given liquid. Specific gravity is nothing but the ratio of relative densities of the liquids.

Here,

Volume of water =volume of given liquid

This principle is used to find the density of the given liquid.

Then,

Mass of water = density of water ×volume of water

Mass of liquid = density of liquid × volume of water.

That's how the density of liquid were found.

The difference is,

Eureka cans are used to measure the density of irregular shaped objects

While, specific gravity bottles are used to measure the density of the liquids
