q1 . A peel of orange will rot fastest when buried in the soil. The decomposition of the materials in the soil is dependent upon the biodegradation nature of that material. Now,the orange peel is biodegradable material and the glass is non-biodegradable material.

q2.Most worm farms raise two main types of earthworm: Eisenia foetida and Lumbricus rubellis. These worms are commonly used to produce vermicompost, as well as for fish bait. Both are referred to by a variety of common names, including red worms, red wigglers, tiger worms, brandling worms, and manure worms.

q3. Residences and homes where people live are some of the major sources of solid waste. Garbage from these places include food wastes, plastics, paper, glass, leather, cardboard, metals, yard wastes, ashes and special wastes like bulky household items like electronics, tires, batteries, old mattresses and used oil.

4q. Composting is an aerobic method (meaning that it requires the presence of air) of decomposing organic solid wastes. It can therefore be used to recycle organic material. The process involves decomposition of organic material into a humus-like material, known as compost, which is a good fertilizer for plants.

5q.The three R's – reduce, reuse and recycle – all help to cut down on the amount of waste we throw away. They conserve natural resources, landfill space and energy. Plus, the three R's save land and money communities must use to dispose of waste in landfills.

6q. Vermicomposting is a process where decomposition of biodegradable waste is done by using earthworms. As this type of composting is done by worms so we create the environment which is suitable for earthworms for their survival. ... Then, add vegetable waste, animal waste, dry leaves etc in the container.

H 1q. Packaging increases the amount of garbage as we keep on throwing the packaging materials carelessly on roads and other places. Also, since these packaging materials (mainly plastic covers) are non-recyclable, they keep lying on the roads and cannot be properly disposed off.

2q.The reason why recycling of nonbiodegradable waste has become so essential these days is that it helps reduce pollution in the environment. It saves the raw materials from being scarce, the recycled waste can be used to produce new products

3q.The process of waste paper recycling most often involves mixing used/old paper with water and chemicals to break it down. It is then chopped up and heated, which breaks it down further into strands of cellulose, a type of organic plant material; this resulting mixture is called pulp, or slurry.
