1. The main reason for this pattern might be the different levels of fertlilty of soil, soil type, need, etc.
2. Physical degradation - tilling the soil to alter soil structure ideal for proper rooting of the crops to be raised. It leads to soil erosion by wind and air. Chemical degradation - indiscriminant use of excessive inorganic fertilizers, pesticides and agrochemicals degrade the soil quality leading to reduced production.
