गुणसूत्र या क्रोमोज़ोम (Chromosome) सभी वनस्पतियों व प्राणियों की कोशिकाओं में पाये जाने वाले तंतु रूपी पिंड होते हैं, जो कि सभी आनुवांशिक गुणों को निर्धारित व संचारित करतेहैं। प्रत्येक प्रजाति में गुणसूत्रों की संख्या निश्चित रहती हैं। मानव कोशिका में गुणसूत्रों की संख्या ४६ होती है जो २३ के जोड़े में होते है।

The nucleus is packed into threadlike structure in the nucleus called the chromosome. Each chromosome is made up of deoxyribonucleic acid which is tightly coiled around it and the protein molecule is called the histone which supports the structure of the chromosome in the body of the organism.

However it is to be noted that chromosome are not able to be viewed by the Microscope when the cell is not dividing.
