Gadisar Lake also called Gadaria Lake is located in the Jaisalmer district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. The lake is surrounded by artistically carved sandstone chattris (cenotaphs), temples, shrines and ghats. Following Figure 1 shows one such cenotaph. Figure 2 shows the line diagram of its front view. The cenotaph is made up of sandstone, popularly known as yellow marble. At the top, it has dome-shaped structure with inner and outer radii of 3.5 m and 5 m respectively. It is supported by eight cylindrical pillars of diameter of 42 cm and height 3 m. It stands on a platform that rests on 11 rows of rectilinear pillars, having 4 pillars in each row. These pillars have a square base of side 50 cm and height 4m. • Write about the location, history and importance of this lake (may include images). • Calculate the amount of sandstone in all the cuboidal pillars. • Find the cost of carving and polishing the surface of the cylindrical pillars at the rate of ₹1200 per m2. • Find the amount of air present inside the hemispherical dome of cenotaph. • The table below shows the major composition of yellow marble. Draw a pie-chart to show the same Oxides Content in percent si02 20%,AL203 3%,CAO 40%,LOI 32%,AI 5% And hence find the amount of SIO2 and CAOpresent in one of the cubical pillars.
