Because of the similarity of landscapes, Mahatma Gandhi named this Kausani the "Switzerland of India." Kausani was located in the district of Almora before the Bageshwar district was integrated into the district in 15 September 1997.

Explanation:

  • Kausani is a hill station and Village It is renowned for its picturesque scenery and its 300 kilometers of panorama of Himalayan peaks such as Trisul, Nanda Devi and Panchachuli. It is situated in Bageshwar district at an altitude 6,200 ft.
  • Anasakti Ashram is a peaceful place in Kausani famous for the stay of Mahatma Gandhi for 2 weeks in  the year 1929. Also known as Gandhi Ashram, this location, after falling in love with its pristine beauty, was identified by Gandhi Ji himself as Switzerland of India. He treated and practiced Anasakti Yoga in the same place. In this ashram there's a little prayer room where every morning and evening there are prayers
  • The April to June summer months are usually seen as the ideal scenery in which you can see Kausani's best. At best, temperatures range from 9 to 26 degrees and are mild and dry. The weather of Kausani definitely gives its tourists a warm relief from all the relentless summer sun.
