"The Ganit Sar Sangrah, a book on numerical mathematics, was written by one of the ancient mathematician, Shri. Mahavira Acharya. Hailing from Karnataka, when Amoghvarsha, the Rashtrakuta king ruled in the 9th century, Mahavira Acharya was a sincere follower of Jainism and Mahavira.

The mathematical book comprised of around 1130 mathematical rules comprised in nine chapters. Various mathematical concepts starting from zero to squares, cubes, geometry, area calculation, polynomials, quadratic and higher order equations, and many more were explained in his book.
