The total area of the field is 100 (acres).

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let total area of field = A (acres)

2. Area of organic fertiliser =\frac{A}{5}

3. Area of chemical fertiliser =\frac{A}{4}

4. Remaining area =A-\left ( \frac{A}{5}+\frac{A}{4} \right )=A-\frac{9A}{20}=\frac{11A}{20}

5. Remaining Area = 55 (acres)

   \frac{11A}{20}=55

  So on calculating

  A = 100 (acres)

6. From here we got total area of field = 100 (acres)
