Seemapuri is a slum area in the outskirt of Delhi, India. The people there are rag pickers or trash pickers who literally live and survive through garbage. That is why, "garbage to them is gold". The city's trash composed of papers, plastics, metals, electronics are brought there everyday. These people scavenge through heaps of these garbage for trash that they can recycle or sell to junk shops to buy food for their tables.

Rag-pickers of Seemapuri means scavenging the heaps of garbage and collecting and selling the recyclable things such as plastic to those people who process them back to usable articles. While scavenging the garbage heaps, these children at times find a rupee or ten rupee note. But this happens very rarely. The hope of finding a note keeps them excited; however, for elders there is no other option. They have to do the rag-picking for their survival.
