Solution:-
Length of the rectangular garden = 120 m and breadth = 85 m
There is path of uniform width of 3.5 m all around the garden and the rest of the part is covered with grass.
So, Length of the portion covered by grass = 120 - (3.5 + 3.5)
= 120 - 7
= 113 m
And, Breadth of the portion covered by grass = 85 - (3.5 + 3.5)
= 85 - 7
= 78 m
So,
Area of the portion that covered by grass = 113*78
= 8814 sq m
Area of the portion covered by grass = 8814 sq m
Cost of covering the garden by grass = rs. 0.50 per sq m
Total cost of covering the garden = 0.50 × 8814
= Rs. 4407
So, the total cost of covering the garden = Rs. 4407
