For an ideal gas, does not change during a Joule–Thomson expansion. ... At high temperature, and decrease as the gas expands; if the decrease is large enough, the Joule–Thomson coefficient will be negative. For liquids, and for supercritical fluids under high pressure, increases as pressure increases.
