Since the molecules are free to move with out any obstacles, they are able to provide random movements which results in the collision of the molecules. This random movement which results in the action of pressure in all directions.

When a molecule collides with the wall, they exert small force on the wall The pressure exerted by the gas is due to the sum of all these collision forces.The more particles that hit the walls, the higher thepressure.
