Dear Sneha,

◆ Answer -

Gaurav had 34 chocolates and Arun had 62.

● Explaination -

Let x & y be no of chocolates Gaurav & Arun have.

From condition 1,

x + 30 = 2 (y - 30)

x = 2y - 90 ...(1)

From condition 2,

y + 10 = 3 (x - 10)

3x - y = 40 ...(1)

Substitute (1) in (2),

3 (2y - 90) - y = 40

5y - 270 = 40

y = 310 / 5

y = 62 ...(3)

Putting (3) in (1),

x = 2y - 90

x = 2 × 62 - 90

x = 34 ...(4)

Therefore, Gaurav had 34 chocolates and Arun had 62.

Thanks for asking..
