Hey there!!

Let's first take the original amount of money Gaurav has as 'x'

He first spends 1/3 of his money on books. So, the amount of money he spent on books is x/3.

Next, he spends 3/4 of the REMAINING on chocolates. The amount of money he has left after buying the books is x - (x/3). Which is 2x/3. But Gaurav spends 3/4 of this money to buy the chocolates. The amount of money he spent is (3/4)(2x/3) which is x/2

The total amount of money he spent is x/2 + x/3 which is 5x/6

We know that he spent a total of 62.5 ; Getting this into equation, we get:

5x/6 = 62.5

... 5x = 6 × 62.5

... 5x = 375

... x = 75

Hence, the total money had was Rs.75

Hope my answer helps! :)
