In physics, Gauss's law, also known as Gauss's flux theorem, is a law relating the distribution of electric charge to the resulting electric field. The surface under consideration may be a closed one enclosing a volume such as a spherical surface.

Gauss law states thatthe total electric flux through a surface is equal to the total charge within that surface divided by permittivity of free space ( can be air or any other medium ).Flux = charge enclosed / permittivity of free space.*.The closed surface in whichcharge is enclosed can beof any shape.*.Permittivity of every medium isdifferent.*.S.I. unit of flux is Weber (Wb).
