Gautham and his wife Gowri will be able to sell 72 apples if they work from 6 am to 6 pm.

Given:

It is given that Gautham and his wife Gowri can pluck an apple in 15 minutes and 12 minutes respectively. And Priya eats an apple in 20 minutes.

To Find:

How many apples Gautham and Gowri will be able to sell in the market if they work from 6 am to 6 pm.

Solution:

The time from 6 am to 6 pm is 12 hours in minutes is 12×60 = 720 minutes.

So, Gautham plucks in 15 minutes and Gowri in 12 minutes.

In 720 minutes Gautham plucks 720/15 = 48 apples.

In 720 minutes Gowri plucks 720/12 = 60 apples

Total apples in 720 minutes = 48+60 = 108 apples.

If Priya eats an apple in 20 minutes, then in 720 minutes, she eats

720/20 = 36 apples she will eat.

So 108 apples - 36 apples

= 72 apples.

∴Gautham and Gowri will be able to sell 72 apples if they work for 720 minutes.
