Hypotonic solution is a solution in which the medium surrounding the cell is dilute i.e. concentration of water is high. A cell in this solution will gain water by osmosis and  swell

Isotonic solution has exactly same water concentration as the cell. Therefore, the cell will neither swell nor shrink

hypertonic solution is concentrated, i.e. it has lower concentration than cell. Therefore, the cell will lose water and shrink

hypotonic solution:

if two solutions have unequal osmotic pressures, the more dilute solution exhibiting lower osmotic pressure is said to be hypotonic solution.

hypertonic solution:

if two solutions have unequal osmotic pressures, the more concentrated solution with higher osmotic pressure is said to be hypertonic solution.
