Given : HCF and LCM of two numbers are 7 and 15 respectively.

one of the numbers is 21,

To find :   the other number.

Solution:

Product of  LCM and HCF of two numbers = product of two numbers

let say other numbers is  b

HCF ( 21 , b)  = 7

LCM (21 , b) = 15

HCF (21 , b) * LCM (21 , b)  = 21 * b

=> 7 * 15 = 21 * b

=> 7 * 3 * 5 = 21 * b

=> 21 * 5 = 21 * b

=> 5 = b

Hence other number is  5

But Data is incorrect

as  HCF is always a factor of LCM

but 7 is not a factor of 15.
