The value of V_0 is 0.4volt

Explanation:

Given-

Ge diode conducts at 0.3 Volt

Si diode conducts at 0.7 volt

Without reversing the connection initial value of V_0 is

We can clearly see from the attached figure Initially Ge & Si  both diodes are forward biased so current will effectively pass through Ge diode with a drop of 0.3 V   because current will prefer less voltage diode i.e. Ge diode which is having 0.3 V

We know that-

                   V_0 = IR

By substituting the value we get

                   V_0=(\frac{10-0.3}{9} )\multiplivation 9 = 9.07 Volt\\

When diode connections are reversed then, Ge diode will not conduct current because Ge diode changes into reverse bias.

So current will flow through "Si" diode hence an effective drop of

                      V_0 = IR

                     V_O = (\frac{ 10 - 0.7}{9}) \mul9= 9.3 volt

Change in V_O(\Delta V_0) = 9.7 - 9.3 = 0.4 Volt

so the value of V_0 is 0.4volt
