Hi ,
Let the cost of each pencil = Rs x
the cost of each pen = Rs y
Geethu purchased 12 pencils , 8 pens for
Rs 124 ,
12x + 8y = 124
divide each term with 4 , we get
3x + 2y = 31 ---( 1 )
Neethu purchased 5pencils and 10 pens
for Rs 105
5x + 10y = 105
divide each term with 5 , we get
x + 2y = 21 ---( 2 )
now ,
subtract equation ( 2 ) from equation ( 1 ) ,
2x = 10
x = 10/2
x = 5
Therefore ,
cost of one pencil = x = Rs 5
I hope this helps you.
