Gel electrophoresis principle procedure and application
Answers
Gel Electrophoresis is a procedure used in molecular biology to separate and identify molecules (such as DNA, RNA, protein, complexes) by size. The separation of these molecules is achieved by placing them in a gel made up of small pores and setting an electric field across the gel.

gel electrophoresis is a method of separation of biological molecules like protein,DNA based upon some properties like molecular weight and size.there are various methods in gel electrophoresis like agarose, polyacrylamide.this is mainly based upon the principle "charge by mass ratio"molecules which are larger in size migrate slowly when compared to the smaller molecules.the chemicals used in the process form a matrix in which the biomolecules get entrapped.on application of electricity they start migrating.the charge of the biomolecules also plays an important role in the electrophoresis.
