in humans the sperm contains the Y chromosome and the ovum contains the X chromosome. if a sperm containing X chromosome fertilises the egg then the offspring will be a female(XX) in the other case Male offspring will be produced( XY)

SO gender of child is determined by the Male partner

but there are some exceptions....in case of birds the female determines the gender of offsprings

Answer:

Explanation:

Well the female have 44 xx chromosomes and male have 44 xy chromosomes. They both divided into half to maintain 44 chromosomes in the child. If x of female and y of male fuses the child will be male and if x of female and x of male fuses the child will be female. That's why gender is determined by the male partner of the couple.
